HOW DOES THE ONLINE TRAINING COMPARE TO THE IN-PERSON TRAINING EXPERIENCE?

We have adapted our in-person Teacher Training program to a new engaging, interactive, and personalized online format. We have limited the amount of students enrolled to ensure each person will experience close instruction, practice teaching, and lecture. Each student is assigned a mentor during the training so they are able to have one-on-one support, along with supplemental course work, readings, and assignments.

I’M INTERESTED IN THE SOCIAL EQUITY IN YOGA SECTION OF THE CURRICULUM. IS THERE ADDITIONAL CARE OF THE POC/LGBTQ+ STUDENTS DURING TRAINING?

Through careful curriculum planning, studies, and prior experience our team is prepared to guide conversation surrounding social justice and equity of wellness through the lense of yoga. The coursework will support diversity/equity/inclusion, community building, teaching with authenticity, and much more. Our facilitators have extensive experience working in and creating community and yoga spaces centering BIPOC and LGBTQIA+, and are trained and prepared to navigate conversations both on and offline supporting BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ students. Our aim is to include enriched coursework that can prepare our students to bring yoga into the world with new perspective, discernment and awareness. The material we cover is just a start. We encourage students to take the course work that is taught and go deeper in their lifetime and dedication to the practice.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON THE DAYS THAT WE MEET?

Tuesday and Thursday sessions will consist of lectures, mediations, and guided conversations. Saturday and Sunday sessions will consist of physical practices, asana clinics, and practice teaching.

WHAT WILL I NEED FOR THE DAYS THAT WE MEET?

Please join your sessions wearing comfortable clothing. Come with both manuals, something to write with, a mat, and any indicated props handy. We recommend a camera setup that allows for full visibility on your mat to enhance the experience of both the asana clinic and practice teaching.

WHAT IS THE ABSENCE POLICY?

To ensure equitable completion for all students and adherence to Yoga Alliance’s guidelines, students must attend all 200 hours of the program, including lectures and mentor meetings. There is a maximum of 2 absences allowed per program for emergencies only. In the event of an absence, we’re happy to work with you on this to ensure you make up these hours and get any missed information during an unforeseen absence. The program leadership will schedule a makeup session at a rate of $150 per session.

HOW ARE THE 200 HOURS BROKEN DOWN?

There are 200 required hours in the certification. 125 hours are “contact” hours, which are scheduled and hosted live via Zoom. The remaining 75 hours are “non-contact” hours, which can be completed on your own, as long as you keep up with the weekly workload, attendance, homework and required classes.
