On weekends you can be found: In my free time, I like to go see live music, whether it be a big concert, or just seeing some friends play at a local bar. I spend most of my weekends in Astoria, Queens, where I live. I like to try out new restaurants and bars, and I also really love to cook on the weekends.
Favorite movie of all time: That would be a tie between Sunshine, and The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Although these two movies coincidentally both of the word Sunshine in them, one is a film about relationships and the other an awesome sci-fi/slasher film that takes place in deep space....enough said.
Favorite time of day to get your practice in? Anytime that I can. My schedule tends to be all over the place, so I'm used to practicing at all hours. Ideally though, I've always enjoyed practice in the early evening.
A quote you love? "The next time you're faced with something that's unexpected, unwanted and uncertain, consider that it just may be a gift." Some of the greatest achievements I've had in my life began after going through something I didn't expect or want. Sometimes those unexpected changes lead us down an exciting path we never imagined could be a reality.
Your personal mantra is…I am enough. We will not be good to ourselves or others unless we truly believe in our self worth.
What's your favorite part of Y7? I have never taken a class I didn't like. Plus to have a venue that combines my two loves, music and yoga, and then add in candle light. I was all in the moment I set foot into the studio.
Dream vacation: I want to go to Italy and gain twenty pounds because I spent the entire time eating.
Favorite yoga pose: Pigeon Pose, for days. I'm obsessed with hip openers.
Favorite post yoga snack: Any kind of fruit, especially fresh mango or pineapple.
How did you get into yoga? In my late twenties, I was suffering from depression and anxiety. I had a large amount of physical discomfort and felt emotionally taxed. I decided I needed a change and moved away from NYC, ending up in Key West, FL. I started to practice yoga at a local fitness studio a few times a week. I couldn't get over the high yoga gave me. I was healthier and happier. I could breathe deep again and believed that life had more to offer that what I previously thought. Yoga is also really fun! I wanted to help people see that yoga could help them as it did for me, so I became a teacher.
