Hometown: Long Island, New York
Favorite Must Artist or Band: Definitely changes by the day and my mood, but two of my all time favorite artists are Lil Wayne and Drake. Lately though, I’ve been absolutely loving 2 Chainz. One of my favorite bands is The XX.
On weekends you can be found: Hanging in Brooklyn. Me and my crew like to stroll around and see where the day takes us. Who’s my crew? Me, my fiancé Zach, and our dog Grizz. When it’s warm out, you can find me upstate hiking or hanging with my family and friends on Sleep Hollow Lake.
Favorite movie of all time: Tough choice. The first thing that comes to my mind right now is We’re the Millers. Classic movie references right there.
Favorite time of day to get your practice in? Early mornings and early evenings.
Dream Vacation: South Africa
Favorite yoga pose: Sirsasana A and Chapasana. I know the question asks for one but I couldn’t decide.
Favorite post yoga snack: a smoothie. I love smoothies. I usually like to make them myself so I know exactly what’s in them. My current recipe is banana, blueberries, vanilla protein powder, peanut butter, flax meal, unsweetened almond milk and a hint of cinnamon. That fiber fix ;)
How did you get into yoga? I took yoga as a class in college thinking it would be an easy A, and it ended up being the class I put the most work into. My last semester of school, I moved to Brooklyn and found Y7. That was when I started practicing every day.
What was your first class like? My first class in college was strange and awkward and slightly uncomfortable but really interesting and intriguing! We learned the asana as well as the history and philosophy so it was a lot to take in. However, my first Y7 class was a transcendental experience. I kind of blacked out and couldn’t even remember how to describe the songs that I loved in the beginning of class because it all seemed like a blur. When I walked out, it was the best I had ever felt. I knew there was something different about the energy in that room and each time I went back, I was taken to that same incredible place.
A quote you love: “To live is the rarest thing. Most people just exist, that is all.” – Oscar Wilde
Your personal mantra: I have a few daily mantras. “Love yourself first, and the rest of the world will follow”… “Always stay true to who you are”… “Everything is going to be ok.”
What’s your favorite part of Y7? Wow, where do I even begin? I think it all comes down to how much I love the magical place I go to when I step into that room. The mix of the dark, candlelit room with heat that always makes you sweat but is still breathable and comfortable and music that makes you want to move and be free… you’re taken on a journey to a place where you’ve never felt so connected to yourself and the people around you. It’s truly blissful.
